Nikki England

A palmist once told me that I was a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. At the time (aged 19) I was insulted that my palm was implying that I would never excel at anything. Now I embrace my ability to be versatile and to explore a variety of different areas (isn’t positive thinking a marvelous thing?). And I don’t bother with fortune tellers.

This term I will be teaching classes in Fiction Writing; Basic/Intermediate Computer Confidence and Dyslexia Awareness. I also work as a support tutor and have supported individuals on some great courses in a range of subjects.

I love learning and am always going on courses (so I know what it’s like to be the student). I’ve learned how to build a compost toilet; paint with acrylics; practice Tai Chi and create a website ( and gained qualifications ranging from an NVQ2 in Spectator Safety (stewarding at music festivals) to an MA in Writing, but the certificates matter far less than the learning along the way. Being a tutor with the WEA is proving to be a fantastic opportunity to carry on learning from a different perspective. Hopefully the students on my courses will enjoy them as much as I do.

My guilty secret is… I am trying to turn myself orange by drinking an excessive quantity of carrot juice.
